Middleton Popstars Academy is a not-for-profit performing arts centre. Since 1999 it has offered children and young people aged 5 to 25, a variety of sessions in singing and dance, as well as opportunities in make-up, drama, costume design and media. We believe that every child should be given the same opportunities to succeed. We welcome those who have not had the best start in life due to circumstances, or who are disabled, or have health problems. All will find their place with us regardless of social background or ethnicity.

The MPA Centre has a large, mirrored dance studio with sprung floor, a recording studio and sound booth, a meeting room and the MPA office. It also has a garden. MPA is in the process of converting the next door section of Pioneer Mill into a studio theatre which will be used by both the MPA members and local community groups.

At MPA, performance is a major tool for increasing young people’s self confidence, self esteem, communication skills, team-working and time-keeping skills and self discipline. MPA’s young people took part in 25 performances in 2011, at a range of events across the community. We were awarded ASDAN accreditation status in 2009 and a number of our young people have now gained qualifications through MPA.
